Lowering Home Insurance Premiums

Louisianans are facing skyrocketing home insurance premiums, leaving families struggling to afford coverage while insurers continue to rake in massive profits. This is unacceptable. Homeowners shouldn’t be left to bear the financial burden of corporate greed, and it’s time for bold, pro-consumer reforms to bring relief to families across our state.

I will fight to hold the insurance industry accountable by implementing stricter regulations on rate increases, requiring greater transparency in how premiums are calculated, and mandating that insurers demonstrate their ability to pay claims fairly and promptly before doing business in Louisiana. Additionally, I will advocate for the creation of a publicly backed insurance alternative to compete with private companies, giving consumers more affordable options and forcing the industry to operate fairly.

To address the root causes of rising premiums, I will push for significant investments in home resilience programs that reduce risk, such as grants for stormproofing homes and improving drainage systems in flood-prone areas. But make no mistake—insurance companies must stop using natural disasters and market fluctuations as excuses to exploit Louisiana homeowners. Lowering premiums is not optional; it’s a necessity for the survival and stability of families and communities across our state. I will stand with homeowners, not the insurance industry, to ensure every family has access to fair, affordable coverage.
