Anderson for Louisiana

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1546 Endorses Quentin Anderson for State Senate

The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1546 has officially endorsed Quentin Anthony Anderson for Louisiana State Senate District 14, recognizing his commitment to workers’ rights, fair wages, and public transit investment. This endorsement comes after Anderson’s strong support for ATU workers during their recent strike for fair pay and better working conditions—a fight he stood with them on, not just in words but in action.

“ATU Local 1546 proudly stands with Quentin Anderson because he has already proven he will stand with us,” said George DeCuir, Jr., President of ATU Local 1546. “He understands the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the need for real investment in public transit. We need leaders like him in the State Senate who will fight for working families and ensure transit workers get the respect they deserve.”

The Amalgamated Transit Union is the largest labor union representing public transit workers in North America. Its Local 1546 chapter represents the frontline transportation employees of Baton Rouge, who recently took action to demand livable wages, fair contracts, and improved workplace protections.

Standing with Workers, Fighting for Change

Anderson’s campaign has prioritized labor rights, wage fairness, and investment in public infrastructure, making his alignment with ATU a natural fit. His support for the transit strike reflects a broader commitment to ensuring workers across Louisiana have the pay, benefits, and protections they deserve.

“I was proud to support ATU workers during their strike, and I am honored to have their support now,” said Quentin Anthony Anderson. “Public transit workers keep our city running, and they deserve leaders who won’t just show up for a photo op but will fight alongside them every step of the way. In the State Senate, I will push for stronger worker protections, fair contracts, and the funding needed to improve our transit systems for both workers and riders alike.”

Investing in Public Transit, Strengthening Louisiana’s Workforce

Public transit plays a critical role in connecting Louisiana’s workers, students, and families to jobs, education, and opportunity. Yet, transit workers are too often overworked, underpaid, and forced to operate under unsafe conditions. Anderson’s people-first vision for Louisiana includes:

Fair pay and benefits for transit workers
Safer working conditions, including proper staffing and resources
Greater public investment in transit systems to improve service for all riders
Stronger labor protections to ensure workers’ voices are heard

With Election Day on February 15, the momentum behind Anderson’s campaign continues to grow as labor unions, working families, and community advocates rally behind his vision for a fairer, more worker-friendly Louisiana.
