Investing in Education

Every child in Louisiana deserves access to a world-class education that prepares them to thrive in the modern economy. To achieve this, we must commit to investing in our public schools while implementing innovative reforms to meet the needs of students, families, and communities. Our education system should be the cornerstone of our state’s success, not an afterthought.

I believe in strengthening public schools as the foundation of our education system, ensuring they are properly funded, equitably resourced, and supported by well-paid, well-trained teachers. But we must also embrace reforms that modernize how education is delivered. This includes transitioning to year-round school schedules to prevent summer learning loss and extending the school day to 9 to 5, making schools more accessible for working families. By creating a schedule that mirrors the workday, we can reduce childcare burdens, provide more time for enrichment and extracurricular activities, and ensure students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

These changes, paired with investments in digital literacy, vocational training, and critical life skills, will prepare students for high-growth industries while empowering them to adapt to a rapidly evolving economy. By committing to these bold reforms, we can create a public education system that meets the needs of every child, strengthens families, and ensures Louisiana’s future is bright and competitive.
