Investing in North Baton Rouge

North Baton Rouge has long been overlooked when it comes to economic development and infrastructure investment, but it’s time to reverse that trend and make it the thriving economic and cultural hub it deserves to be. My vision for North Baton Rouge includes transformative investments in infrastructure, transportation, and economic empowerment that will create lasting opportunities for its residents and ensure the community plays a central role in the future of East Baton Rouge Parish.

A key part of this vision is building a modern light rail system in East Baton Rouge, with North Baton Rouge prioritized in the initial stages of the project. By ensuring that critical infrastructure—such as stations, tracks, and access points—is developed in North Baton Rouge first, we can connect residents to jobs, education, and opportunities while fostering local economic activity. This is about more than transportation; it’s about making sure North Baton Rouge isn’t left behind as we modernize the region.

Beyond infrastructure, I want to help turn North Baton Rouge into a “Black Wall Street” that even Tulsa would be envious of—a hub of Black entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic power. This means providing targeted grants and funding for Black-owned businesses, creating incubators to foster entrepreneurship, and investing in workforce development programs that equip residents with modern, high-demand skills. It also means revitalizing the community through beautification projects, addressing blight, and ensuring affordable housing options for families.

North Baton Rouge has the potential to lead the way as a model of equitable development in Louisiana, and I’m committed to making that vision a reality. By prioritizing infrastructure and economic empowerment, we can create a community that is vibrant, prosperous, and a source of pride for everyone in Baton Rouge.
