For too long, Louisiana has been overly reliant on a narrow set of industries that dominate our economy and exert outsized political influence, stifling not only political progress but also the kind of economic innovation that could truly transform our state.
I will prioritize policies that incubate and support organic small businesses, local entrepreneurs, and startups in emerging industries. By diversifying Louisiana’s economy and reducing reliance on a few powerful sectors, we can empower more people to innovate, create, and contribute to our state’s growth. This includes investing in small business grants, expanding access to affordable capital, and improving workforce development programs to prepare Louisianans for high-growth sectors like renewable energy, technology, advanced manufacturing, and creative industries.
Economic development must also mean investing in the infrastructure that supports innovation, including broadband access, modern transportation systems, and education systems that equip the next generation of entrepreneurs. By shifting our focus to a more diversified, locally-driven economy, we can ensure that the benefits of economic development reach every corner of Louisiana—not just the boardrooms of powerful corporations.
