Quentin Anthony Anderson Announces Intention to Run for Louisiana State Senate

Quentin Anthony Anderson, former 2024 Democratic candidate for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District, today declared his intention to seek election to the Louisiana State Senate in District 14. This special election, set for February 15, 2025, follows the vacancy created by State Senator Cleo Fields’ election to Congress. Anderson plans to formally announce his candidacy on Sunday, January 5, with further details forthcoming.

Anderson, who garnered over 23,800 votes in his recent congressional bid, aims to bring bold, innovative leadership to the Louisiana Senate. His campaign will focus on economic justice, educational equity, environmental resilience, and restoring trust in public institutions.

In a statement, Anderson underscored his commitment to active and effective governance:
“Louisiana needs leaders who will fight for meaningful progress—not rubberstamp a far-right agenda or settle for business as usual. Our district deserves a senator who will tackle the big challenges head-on, from raising wages and investing in North Baton Rouge to ensuring every child has access to a world-class education. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and deliver real results for my community.”

While emphasizing his collaborative approach, Anderson hinted at contrasts with his likely opponents, including State Representative Larry Selders and former BESE member Carolyn Hill. Anderson signaled his vision of leadership as one rooted in integrity, independence, and a refusal to “go along to get along” at the expense of working families and vulnerable communities.

Anderson’s campaign will offer a platform of policies aimed at uplifting District 14, including raising Louisiana’s minimum wage, expanding healthcare access, and investing in public transit, flood control, and traditional public schools. His grassroots approach reflects his belief that transformative change comes from empowering the community and delivering bold policies that make the American Dream possible and accessible for everyone.

A formal announcement event is planned for Sunday, January 5, 2025, where Anderson will lay out his vision for the district and state.
